Piercing Aftercare

💎 Piercing Aftercare Timeline

Healing times vary depending on placement, lifestyle, and aftercare. Following proper care is essential to prevent infection and ensure the best results. We provide guidance, but whether you follow it is your choice. Neglecting care increases infection risks.

⏱️ Typical Healing Times by Placement

  • Earlobe: 6–8 weeks
  • Helix / Upper Ear: 3–6 months
  • Nostril: 2–4 months
  • Septum: 2–3 months
  • Lip / Labret: 2–3 months
  • Tongue: 4–6 weeks
  • Navel / Belly Button: 6–12 months
  • Surface, dermal, or micro-piercings: 4–12 months
  • Other facial or body piercings: 2–6 months depending on placement

🧪 Daily Care Timeline

  • Days 1–3: Use TBC Piercing Solution 3 times daily. If piercing is irritated or tender, continue using the solution for up to 3 days. If you did not purchase the solution, saline solution is fine.
  • After Day 3: Clean with sterile saline solution once or twice daily until fully healed.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before touching your piercing.
  • Remove any crusting or debris using a sterile cotton swab soaked in solution.
  • Pat dry with a clean, disposable paper towel; do not rub.
  • Check jewelry for tightness but avoid unnecessary rotation - moving jewelry can irritate tissue.
  • Use q-tips/earbuds to assist in cleaning your jewels.

🧴 DIY Saline Solution

  • ¼ teaspoon (≈1.5 g) non-iodized sea salt
  • 250 ml warm distilled or boiled (then cooled) water
  • Stir until dissolved; use once daily
  • Soak a sterile gauze or cotton swab and gently apply to piercing for 1–2 minutes
  • Discard leftover solution; never reuse

⚠️ Infection Risks & Lifestyle Guidance

  • Signs of infection: severe redness, swelling, pain, pus, or fever - contact your piercer or doctor immediately.
  • Swimming in pools, hot tubs, or open water can introduce bacteria - avoid until fully healed.
  • Gym/exercise: avoid heavy friction, sweating, or pressure on the piercing during early healing.
  • Avoid unnecessary touching or moving jewelry; hygiene is critical.
  • Piercing aftercare is vital; repiercing or adjustments may be needed if healing is interrupted.

📌 Client Responsibility

  • We provide detailed guidance, but following it is your responsibility.
  • Failure to follow aftercare instructions can lead to delayed healing, infection, or scarring.
  • All touch-ups, complications, or issues arising from neglect are not covered under any guarantee.
  • Keep your contact info updated and reach out with concerns - early intervention prevents issues.
