Before Your Appointment
Everything you need to know before your tattoo or piercing at Tattoos By Charlene.
Please read this page before your appointment. Arriving prepared helps us keep your appointment safe, comfortable and running on time.
π 1. CONSENT FORM β MANDATORY
Your Tattoo & Piercing Consent Form must be completed before your procedure starts.
π COMPLETE YOUR CONSENT FORM HERE
You may complete it in advance or on the morning of your appointment, but it must be submitted before we begin.
A booking, deposit, WhatsApp conversation or verbal agreement does not replace the consent form.
The form allows us to record relevant information that may affect whether a procedure is appropriate or whether additional precautions are needed.
β οΈ What happens if you arrive without completed consent?
- We may need to delay or postpone your procedure.
- We may refuse to proceed if required information has not been provided.
- Your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
- Appointment time can be lost while required information is completed or clarified.
- Your deposit or booking may be affected in accordance with our booking terms.
We will not simply skip the consent process to save time. If relevant information has not been disclosed, we cannot properly assess the information we need before starting your procedure.
If you deliberately provide inaccurate or incomplete information, this can affect the assessment of your suitability and the management of any issue that may arise.

π€ 2. BEFORE A TATTOO
DO:
- Get a good nightβs sleep and arrive rested.
- Eat a proper meal before your appointment. For longer sessions, bring a snack.
- Drink enough water and stay hydrated.
- Wear clean, comfortable clothing that gives access to the tattoo area.
- Tell us in advance if you have concerns about the placement, skin or healing.
- Bring identification if it is required for your appointment.
- Bring headphones, entertainment or anything else that helps you stay comfortable during a longer session.
DONβT:
- Do not arrive intoxicated or under the influence of recreational drugs.
- Do not arrive with sunburn, significant irritation, broken skin or an active skin problem over the tattoo area.
- Do not shave aggressively immediately before the appointment if it is likely to irritate your skin.
- Do not apply heavy lotions, oils or products to the tattoo area immediately before your appointment unless we have specifically advised you to do so.
- Do not hide relevant health, medication, allergy or skin information from your artist.
π 3. BEFORE A PIERCING
DO:
- Eat before your appointment rather than arriving on an empty stomach.
- Drink water and arrive hydrated.
- Get enough rest.
- Arrive with the piercing area clean and free of unnecessary products.
- Wear clothing that allows comfortable access to the piercing site.
- Disclose relevant allergies, medications, health information, previous healing issues and concerns on your consent form.
- Ask questions β we would rather answer a question before piercing than have you leave unsure about your aftercare.
DONβT:
- Do not arrive intoxicated or under the influence of recreational drugs.
- Do not arrive with significant irritation, broken skin, infection or an active skin problem at the piercing site.
- Do not apply unnecessary creams, oils or cosmetics directly to the piercing area before your appointment.
- Do not conceal relevant health or allergy information.
π« ALCOHOL & INTOXICATION
Please do not arrive intoxicated or under the influence of recreational drugs. If we believe you are not in a suitable state to safely consent to or undergo the procedure, we may refuse to proceed and the appointment may need to be rescheduled.
π½οΈ FOOD, WATER & COMFORT
Eating beforehand and staying hydrated can make your appointment much more comfortable, particularly for longer tattoo sessions. Please do not intentionally arrive hungry because you think it will make the appointment easier.
For longer sessions, bring a drink and a small snack if appropriate.
π WHAT TO WEAR
Choose loose, comfortable clothing that allows your artist or piercer easy access to the area being worked on. Remember that tattoo ink and other products can come into contact with clothing, so choose something practical rather than your favourite outfit.
For intimate or sensitive placements, we will discuss practical positioning and coverage with you beforehand.
πͺͺ WHAT TO BRING
- Completed consent form.
- Identification where required.
- Your booking information if requested.
- A drink and snack for longer appointments.
- Any reference images or design information that has been requested.
- Payment method for your remaining balance, unless already arranged.
𧴠SKIN & PLACEMENT PREPARATION
The skin being tattooed or pierced should be in a suitable condition for the procedure. If the area is sunburned, significantly irritated, damaged or affected by an active skin issue, tell us before your appointment rather than waiting until you arrive.
If you are unsure whether your skin is suitable, send us a clear photo on WhatsApp before your appointment so we can advise whether the appointment should go ahead.
π₯ GUESTS & CHILDREN
Please keep additional guests to a minimum unless they are required for the appointment or we have agreed otherwise in advance. Our studio environment needs to remain clean, calm and safe while procedures are being performed.
Children may not be brought along unless this has been specifically discussed and agreed with us beforehand.
β° ARRIVAL & APPOINTMENT TIME
Please arrive on time. We prepare your station, equipment and appointment around your booked time. Arriving late may reduce the time available for your appointment and, depending on the circumstances, may require rescheduling.
If you are running late or something unexpected happens, please contact us on WhatsApp as soon as possible.
β WHEN SHOULD YOU CONTACT US BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT?
Contact us before arriving if:
- Your health or medication situation has changed.
- You have developed irritation, sunburn, broken skin or another issue at the procedure site.
- You are unsure whether something in your medical history needs to be disclosed.
- You are unsure what clothing to wear for your placement.
- You need to discuss a change to the appointment or placement.
- You have any concern that may affect your ability to safely undergo the procedure.
π€ AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
Your artist or piercer will provide the relevant aftercare instructions for your procedure. Please follow those instructions carefully and ask questions if anything is unclear.

β οΈ OUR RIGHT TO REFUSE OR POSTPONE A PROCEDURE
Your safety comes first. Tattoos By Charlene reserves the right to postpone or refuse a tattoo or piercing where the procedure is not considered appropriate to proceed, where consent has not been properly completed, where required information has not been disclosed, or where a client is not in a suitable condition to provide informed consent or safely undergo the procedure.
We would much rather reschedule an appointment than knowingly proceed in circumstances that create unnecessary risk.
β READY FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT?

Then check the preparation guidance above and arrive ready, rested and hydrated. π€
